The 5 euro coin in blister, Austria “New Year's Concert” is dedicated to the New Year's Eve concert held annually by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The obverse is standard for Austrian 5 euro coins: the denomination “5” is in the center, and the 9 coats of arms of the Austrian federal states are arranged around the face value. The inscription in a circle reads: “REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH” (above) and ‘EURO’ (below).
The reverse shows a concert given by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The musicians are depicted on the right, with the huge organ of the Golden Hall in the background. On the left is the silhouette of the conductor, who is leading the orchestra with a wave of his hand. The name of the coin “Neujahrs- konzert” is superimposed vertically in two lines on the silhouette. The year of issue “2016” is also engraved vertically on the right.
