The commemorative coin is dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian choir conductor, composer, ethnographer, and educator Oleksandr Koshyts (1875–1944), who played a key role in popularizing Ukrainian musical culture on the international stage. The commemorative coin honors the creative legacy of the artist, who, at the invitation of the head of the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic, Simon Petliura, headed the Ukrainian Republican Capella. Between 1919 and 1924, under the direction of Oleksandr Koshyts, the choir toured 17 countries around the world, giving over 600 concerts. It was then that the world first heard Mykola Leontovych's “Shchedryk,” a piece that later became the world-famous Christmas hit “Carol of the Bells.”

The reverse of the coin features a stylized portrait of Oleksandr Koshyts in a tailcoat in the center of the composition. Particular attention is focused on the image of the artist's hands—the conductor's main “instrument” and a means of emotional expression. The background is a wavy, dynamic surface that diverges from the coat of arms of the Ukrainian People's Republic, symbolizing the spread of Ukrainian culture throughout the world thanks to the choir's concert tours. On the left, against a mirror background, are the inscriptions: OLEXANDR / KOSHITS and the years of his life 1875 / 1944.
The obverse of the coin features a composition symbolizing the touring activities of the Ukrainian Republican Choir under the direction of Oleksandr Koshyts. A stylized map of the tour route is reproduced on a matte background, showing the names of the cities where the choir performed. Between the names of the cities are silhouettes of swallows – a metaphor for spiritual flight, free movement, and the spread of Ukrainian art throughout the world. The mirror background features the inscription UKRAINE, the year of minting 20/25, the small State Emblem of Ukraine, and the denomination 2 with the graphic symbol of the hryvnia. The logo of the Banknote and Coin Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine is located at the bottom left.
