This rare 2 Euro coin is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the construction of the first castle on the rock "le Rocher".
The coin shows an image of the castle on the rock of Monaco, above is the inscription "MONACO". Below is the semicircular inscription "FONDATION DE LA FORTERESSE", surrounded by the year-dates "1215" and "2015". The original construction of the palace, which has represented the seat of the Grimaldi family for 800 years, was followed by constant additions and extensions. Today it still represents the residence of the princely family.
The commemorative coin from Monaco is limited to only 10,000 pieces and will be delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
