The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Andorra, titled “Summer Solstice Festivals,” honors the colorful celebrations in Andorra that take place during the summer solstice, usually around June 21. These festivities are deeply rooted in Andorran tradition and culture, offering locals and visitors alike a unique and joyful experience.
The obverse of the coin depicts a human figure called a “fallar” dressed in a traditional cape and drawing a fire circle with a “falla” (the main element of the festival, consisting of tree bark, which, once lit, rotates vigorously to create large circles of fire). The graphic composition of lines on the background depicts the summer solstice. The outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
The reverse of the coin shows the face value of 2 euros and a map of Europe.
