The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Finland, titled “The First Nature Conservation Act in Finland,” highlights the importance of Finnish environmental legislation.
Finland's first Nature Conservation Act, passed in 1923, was ahead of its time and continues to play a central role in 100 years of legislation.
The Nature Conservation Act is one of the most important means of protecting Finland's natural diversity. Its importance was already understood a hundred years ago.
The beetle (Tragosoma depsarium) on the obverse of the special euro coin reminds us of the importance of the Nature Conservation Act. In Finland, the weevil beetle is an endangered species. Beetles operate at different levels of the ecosystem and are thus an important group in terms of the functioning of biodiversity as a whole.
Reverse: the outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
The coin is made of Cu/Ni/Brass metal, measures 25.75 mm and weighs 8.5 grams. The coin's quality is Unc and its mintage is 400,000. This unique coin honors the importance of the meaning of the laws of Finland. An excellent choice for collectors and those who appreciate history and cultural ties.
