The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Spain, titled “Old Town of Cáceres,” honors the Spanish city of Cáceres, the capital of the province of the same name in the Extremadura region.The city has over 95,000 inhabitants, and the old center has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1949.The old center, located on a hill, is full of palaces, towers, old buildings and city walls. The city was never destroyed during the wars, and so the old parts have remained almost intact. The city is also known as the “Pearl of Extremadura”.
Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts the Old Town of Cáceres. The name of the minting country “ESPAÑA” (in Spanish) and the year of minting “2023” are minted in large letters at the top right, and the name of the city “CACERES” is minted at the bottom.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin shows the face value of 2 euros and a map of Europe.
The coin is made of Cu/Ni/Brass metal, measures 25.75 mm and weighs 8.5 grams. The coin's quality is Unc and its mintage is 1,000,000. An excellent choice for collectors and those who appreciate history and cultural ties.
