The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Italy, entitled “100 years of the Air Force”, commemorates the centenary of the Italian Air Force, founded in 1923.
The obverse of the coin features a logo designed by AERONAUTICA MILITARE employees to mark the centenary. The illustration shows a large stylized number “100” crossed by a runway with vintage aircraft, an innovative propeller-driven biplane in the lower left corner and a modern fighter jet in the upper right corner. A semicircular line near the right edge of the image connects these two elements with the dates 1923 and 2023.
Reverse: The outer ring of the coin features 12 stars of the European flag.
