The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Italy titled “Alessandro Manzoni” is dedicated to the Italian writer Alessandro Francesco Tomasso Manzoni, who was born in 1785 in Milan. At the age of 20, he moved to Paris, where his passion for novels intensified. His novel I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed) is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature.
The obverse of the coin features an image of Alessandro Manzoni. His name is placed next to the year of his death (1873) and the year of issue (2023).
