The 2 Euro 2023 coin from Slovakia, titled “Horse-drawn express mail service,” commemorates the 200th anniversary of the launch of the horse-drawn express mail service between Vienna and Bratislava.
The creation of the advanced postal transportation at that time took place in 1823. Carriages pulled by four or six horses could travel at a speed of 12 km/h, an extraordinary speed for the time.
The design of the national side of the coin depicts a symbolic image of the express mail courier service between Vienna and Bratislava. It depicts a horse-drawn carriage moving at speed, as well as a rectangular insert with a postal horn in the center.
The coin is made of Cu/Ni/Brass metal, measures 25.75 mm and weighs 8.5 grams. The coin's quality is Unc and its mintage is 995,000. This unique coin honors the cultural traditions of Slovakia. An excellent choice for collectors and those who appreciate history and cultural ties.
