Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts a part of the equation first solved by Josip Plemel, with numbers and symbols rotating in a circle to illustrate the movement of the planets, combining two of Plemel's fields of activity and research - mathematics and astronomy. The coin also bears the country of issue “SLOVENIA”, the year “2023”, and the name and date of birth of the mathematician “Josip Plemel 1873”.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin shows the face value of 2 euros and a map of Europe.
