A 2-euro commemorative coin from Slovenia, issued in honor of the 250th anniversary of the University Library of Ljubljana.
The obverse of the coin features the handle of the entrance door, adorned with an image of the mythical horse Pegasus. Pegasus invites visitors into the world of knowledge.
The name “NARODNA IN UNIVERZITETNA KNJIŽNICA” runs in a semicircle at the top. To the right is the year of foundation, “1774.” At the bottom are the country’s name, “SLOVENIJA,” and the year of issue, “2024.”
As is traditional for 2-euro coins, 12 European Union stars are arranged in a circle as a symbol of unity.
Reverse: Standard design for a 2-euro coin.
This coin is not merely a means of payment, but a tribute to science and research. A wonderful addition for collectors and a reminder that knowledge is the foundation of a nation.
