On the reverse of the coin against the background of stylized trident is a map of Ukraine, decorated with stylized national embroidery ornament, framed by twelve stars symbolizing the peoples of Europe in unity; the inscription in a circle: GRANTING THE STATUS OF A CANDIDATE COUNTRY FOR EU MEMBERSHIP.
The obverse of the coin features a stylized image of the European continent against a mirror background, with a mosaic decorative element on the left, symbolizing the diversity of peoples, cultures, freedom to choose one's own destiny, and the absence of formal borders; the European continent has the outlines of Ukraine, which, like a puzzle, complements the integrity of Europe and “returns” home, where it has always been indirectly present, starting with the dynastic ties of the Kyivan state; on the right: Small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription UKRAINE (semicircle); denomination - 5 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia (on both coins); year of minting - 2022 and the inscription - RETURN HOME (below); logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Banknote and Minting Works (below the map of Ukraine).
