The commemorative coin is dedicated to the legendary warriors of the Zaporozhian Sich - the Cossack characterists. These victorious warriors, shrouded in mystical fame, were distinguished by their unsurpassed skill in battle and mastery of weapons, which inspired fear among their enemies and admiration among their allies. The historian Dmytro Yavornytskyi described them as knights whom “neither fire nor water, nor saber, nor ordinary bullet, except for a silver one, could take.” Today, Ukrainian defenders, like their ancestors, demonstrate exceptional courage, resilience and loyalty to the Motherland, continuing the glorious traditions of the Cossacks.

The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized image of a Cossack character guarding a bird - a symbol of freedom that visually resembles a trident. The composition reflects the connection between modern warfare and the Ukrainian spirit of the Cossack era. On the matte background are broken enemy sabers, which are powerless against the unbreakable love for the native land and the desire for freedom.
The obverse of the coin depicts a stylized figure of a soldier in the center of the composition, carefully holding and protecting the small State Emblem of Ukraine, a symbol of freedom and independence. The composition symbolizes the eternal desire of the Ukrainian people to live in their own sovereign state. On the matte background are enemy bullets that bounce off the soldier, never hitting the “Ukrainian soul”. Below the coat of arms is the inscription UKRAINE, denomination 5, the graphic symbol of the hryvnia and the year of minting 2024, and to the left of the soldier is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine's Banknote and Minting Works.
