The commemorative coin is dedicated to diplomacy – one of the ways to pursue national interests and foreign policy through dialogue, negotiations, and ensuring a responsible balance between state principles and political circumstances. Diplomacy is an integral part of the state-building process, ensuring Ukraine's position in the general system of international relations and contributing to the establishment of its sovereignty, security, and international subjectivity. The Ukrainian diplomatic tradition has been shaped over centuries – from Cossack embassies and hetman universals to the modern multi-vector diplomacy of an independent state, based on the continuity of political thought, responsibility for state decisions, and the ability to maintain strategic balance.
The reverse side of the coin symbolically depicts diplomacy as a unique art of balance and interaction. The intertwined lines at the top of the composition convey the complexity of international relations, as each decision is a synergy of dialogue, compromise, and responsibility of the parties. The triangle visually emphasizes the stability of the foundation of diplomatic activity. The central element of the composition is an outline of the seal of the Zaporizhzhia Army of 1648–1649, which once again reminds us of the historicity of the Ukrainian diplomatic tradition and its deep roots in the state-building practices of the past.
The obverse of the coin features a stylized image of an olive branch, the oldest symbol of peace and good neighborliness. Below the composition is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the denomination 5 with the graphic sign of the hryvnia, the inscription UKRAINE, the year of minting – 2025, and the logo of the Banknote and Coin Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
