The commemorative coin is dedicated to the traditional pottery art that developed in the village of Opishnia in the Poltava region and dates back to the 17th century. Opishnia ceramics have become a landmark phenomenon of national culture, both in artistic and ethnographic terms. They combine deep artistic originality and sophisticated techniques, which have been preserved and passed down from generation to generation over the centuries. In 2012, Opishnia ceramics were included in the National List of Elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine, confirming their significance as a component of cultural identity.

The obverse of the coin features a zoomorphic sculpture “Lion” by Vasyl Omelianenko (decorative element - color printing) in the center of the composition. On either side of the sculpture are fragments of the characteristic applied decoration of zoomorphic sculptures. On the right is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the year of minting 2025, the inscription UKRAINE, the denomination 5 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, as well as the logo of the Banknote and Coin Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The reverse of the coin features a stylized composition formed from elements of traditional ornamental decoration of Opishnia clay products, in particular plates – true gems of Ukrainian folk art, which seem to go beyond the boundaries of one of them. In the upper part of the coin is the inscription OPISHNIA CERAMICS.
